Shedding Old Patterns

$300.00

Steam-set, French silk dye on 100% Habotai silk

9" x 12” silk mounted on 11” x 14” x 1.5” gessoed canvas framed in a luxurious rustic gold floating frame

A symbol of transformation and rebirth, "Shedding Old Patterns" captures the moment a vibrant Malachite butterfly emerges from its cocoon—still delicately tethered to the open hand of a woman. Painted on luminous silk, the piece evokes a powerful metaphor: the conscious release of outdated patterns and the courage to embrace change. The hand, soft yet strong, becomes both anchor and witness to this metamorphosis.

The background features a soft lavender wash layered over a subtle, hand-dyed shibori pattern that gently fades as it ascends, suggesting an ethereal lifting of old energies. Thanks to the translucent quality of silk dyes, the pattern remains visible even through the hand, adding a sense of depth and delicate complexity.

The Malachite butterfly, with its bold, bright green wings edged in black, symbolizes renewal and the bold beauty of stepping into a new chapter. As the butterfly takes flight, it carries the energy of growth, freedom, and possibility.

This original 11x14" silk painting is mounted and framed, offering a powerful visual reminder that transformation begins with the willingness to let go.
