Steam-set, French silk dye on 100% Habotai silk
33" x 33” silk mounted on 36” x 36” x 2” gessoed canvas framed in a solid wooden frame finished in a rich walnut stain with elm burl.
Where the Light Finds Us captures the graceful ascent of an egret lifting from a still pond, surrounded by lily pads and the deep, layered hues of midnight blues, forest greens, and earthy browns. Against this rich, shadowed landscape, the egret’s luminous white feathers emerge in striking contrast, touched by a soft, golden light that seems to illuminate the bird from within.
In many spiritual traditions, the egret symbolizes purity, patience, grace, and the quiet wisdom that comes from stillness. At home between earth, water, and sky, it reminds us of our own capacity for transformation—to rise above uncertainty, trust our inner knowing, and move toward the light even when the way forward is not yet clear.
Through the fluid beauty of silk painting, light and shadow become a meditation on this delicate balance. The dark waters hold depth and mystery, while the golden glow offers a gentle promise of hope, renewal, and possibility.
Where the Light Finds Us is an invitation to pause, to breathe, and to remember that even in our deepest waters, beauty is waiting to emerge. Sometimes, the light does not ask us to find our way to it. It simply finds us.
